SWINE MANDATORY MEETING:  Thursday, Dec 6 @ 7:00 PM
                      at the Ag Center in Tavares.  There will be a
                      speaker and slide show on pig selection, raising,
                      and feeding so that your pig will be what the
                      market is looking for.  We will have record book
                      workshop and a Presentation on Ultrasound.  
                      Then when you take your pig to the fair, you should have a good quality pig and know what you must do
                      to get it to that point.    Anyone that can not make the Dec 6 meeting we will have an alternate day on Dec 8.
                      We will not have the speakers, but will have as much information for you as possible.  EACH EXHIBITOR
                      MUST ATTEND 1 ON THESE MEETINGS TO BE
                      ELIGIBLE TO SHOW

 

Things You Will Need for the Fair

  • Show clothes (4-H colors)
  • Sale clothes (4-H colors or dress clothes)
  • Extra clothes daily
  • Extra shoes
  • Boots are better when showing cows (for safety)
  • Coats
  • Record book-Completed except for final weight calculations
  • Chairs
  • Cooler-drinks, snacks, sandwiches
  • Camera

Equipment For Animals

  • Feed (for 3days)
  • Feed pan (club has automatic waterers)
  • Cane
  • Scissors
  • Small brush for show
  • Shampoo
  • Brush to scrub pig
  • Rags
  • Yard rake
  • Water hose
  • Poop scoop
  • Shovel

Rules:

Arrive by 8:00 a.m. everyday.

You CANNOT leave before 6:00 p.m. each day or until approved by Mrs. Kathy.

No one can leave on Show or Sale night until all animals are shown or sold.  YOU MUST STAY BY YOUR PEN OR SIT IN THE BLEACHERS AND CHEER FOR YOUR TEAM MEMBERS.  KEEP YOUR AREA CLEAN AND HELP EACH OTHER.

It is your responsibility to know the rules and regulations for the show your are exhibiting in.  List below (1-2) are some areas the livestock committee will enforce much harder than in years past.

Numbers 3 & 4 are my (Kathy's) rules.  You all know that I want you to have a good experience and fun time at the fair.  I know you all know these rules are what I believe in and I wish all of you good luck at the fair.

(Remember, Bay Lake Beef & Swine, Where everybody is a winner!)

  1. Record Books must be completed by the exhibitor or animal will be disqualified.
  2. Animals with any painting, writing, art, etc. at show or sale time, will not be allowed to sell.
  3. You are expected to show good manners, good behavior, and good sportsmanship at all times.  Remember, you are all winners by completing your project.  Make sure to congratulate the winner of your class, hsake hands with the judge and thank him/her whenever possible.  Always have a (natural smile) and show that you are enjoying yourself.
  4. On the night of the sale, make sure to shake hand and thank your buyer when you are having your picture made.
